I was not terribly crazy about the X-Men flicks. I am not even sure I’ve seen all of them, but I really enjoyed this one. It’s a solid super-hero origin story with a tight plot and likable actors. It is set during the 60s and the Cuban missile crisis plays a major role in the story. That gave the movie a neat look and made it feel relateable somehow. Kevin Bacon does an excellent job as a nut job mutant who -what else?- wants to kill everyone and bring on the mutant age to take over the earth. I also really liked McEvoy and Fassbender in the Professor X and Magneto roles. Unfortunately the rest of the mutants kind of get hazy for me.
