Life of Pi (Ang Lee – 2012) B+

I am sure this would’ve worked even better on the big screen and in -one of the rare instances- in 3D because it looks just gorgeous. It really is quiet a spectacular looking movie with awesome set pieces most of which involve ocean scenes. I had never read the book and I watched this knowing next to nothing about the story, its twists  or the “message”. This worked for me and I enjoyed this story of survival and ultimately of self-discovery. The young actor playing Pi (Suraj Sharma) does a fantastic job here acting most of the time with nothing more than a tiger (both real and CGI) and I would like to see him in more things. It really is amazing what a great body of work Ang Lee has and how diverse it is. This one is a worthy addition to his repertoire.
