The Cabin in The Woods (Drew Goddard – 2011) A-

This is like a horror movie that celebrates and skewers every horror flick ever made. From the opening shot you should be able to tell that despite its conventional -really cliche- title, this is not an ordinary slasher film. Where it goes and how it gets there, I won’t say much about other than it was way, way different than anything I might’ve expected…in a good way. Cabin’s best part is probably the third act, where all hell breaks loose. Literally. It’s at the same time funny and very serious in how it approaches it’s subjects of modern horror films and the human penchant for enjoying mayhem on the screen.
