Woody Allen: A Documentary (Robert B. Weide – 2012) A-

As a fan of Woody Allen’s work, this comprehensive 4 hour documentary is easy for me to love. It ultimately does not give me that much more insight into Allen’s life than what we already know. However, it does track his film work in a series of interviews (with him, his friends and colleagues) from the early days through the present day set of his latest film, “From Rome with Love”. It really demonstrates what an amazing and prolific artist Allen is and the film world is that much better with him in it. I love his closing line that he says with a chuckle “despite all these lucky breaks, why do I feel like I got screwed somehow?”
