The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Niels Arden Oplev – 2009) B+

More or less a straightforward story, involving a decades-old mystery, Nazis, incest, creepy parole officers and serial killers. Yeah, it really is straightforward though. What makes it much better than an average thriller is it’s tough heroin Lisbeth and the dynamic between her and her partner Mikael. The movie’s native land of Sweden, Bergman’s country, also adds another sharp dimension and gravity to the plot for some reason. It must be the whole isolated estate, rich old family and deep buried secrets that evoke Bergman for me.
