The Hurt Locker (Kathryn Bigelow – 2009) A

An exceptional war movie. It’s filled with many tense moments and thrilling sequences, but this war movie is about the few characters we meet. It focuses on the elite bomb squad and gives us men we care about. They are not generalized or politicized cliches but real men who are doing a difficult job. Some do it because they have to and others, like Sgt. William James, do it because it really is the only thing they know and enjoy doing. Technically the film is wonderfully done and the performances are top notch.

Just saw this one a few minutes ago. Really impressed. Love how the movie doesn’t build towards some climax. Made me think of Generation Kill.
