Au Revoire, Les Enfant (Louis Malle – 1987) A+

I admit I have a very soft spot for films like this. Two boys in a boarding school in France in 1944 get to know each other and become friends, even if only for several months. Films about the unforgetable childhood friendships people strike are definitly one of the most fascinating to me. Add to that how perfect everything here is. From the wonderfull depiction of the boarding school they are in, to how perfectly each of them plays their role, to the teachers, cooks, parents and even the multidimensional Nazi characters we meet. All leading to the heartbreaking and perfect final scene close-up.
